Hi I am starting to get a bit worried as after 9 weeks of being a brillint eater my dd has started to refuse her veg purees however it only seems to be the combinations she is refusing she loves her fruit still and will eat most of her breakfast is this normal?

Thanks
Anya

probably is quite normal, my DS prefers sweeter tastes aswell. You could try pureeing parsnips which taste sweet or mix veg and fruit together.

On the other hand you could stick firm and carry on with the veg so your DD has to get used to it.

If I could do it again I would do that and stick to the savoury tastes more. On a different area but similiar theme, my DS stopped drinking water once I'd given him juice for a while and I've still not been able to get him back to water really even though there was a time he drank loads of it.

Hiya Anya

My DS would do this every so often and still has 'off days' now at 11 months, fussing over foods that he has wolfed down the week before. I would use sweeter tasting root veg and mix with greens etc. I would just kept offering veg but try not to let it become a battle.

Don't worry, all the babies I know of do this so I would say it's normal.

When I was weaning DS, it was common for him to like (or hate) something one day, and then hate (or like) it the next day IYSWIM.....
He definitely preferred sweeter tastes, so carrot was good, and parsnip. One trick is that anything eaten after Jerusalem artichokes tastes sweeter.....but could never get DS to eat Jerusalem artichoke. Oh well.
Now 3.4 yrs - and has eclectic tastes food wise, but still reserves the right to love something one day - and totally reject it two days later (or vice versa.

My DD was much the same. I had a friend whose son would eat just about anything as long as it had pear mixed into it!! You could try adding a little apple or pear to a predominatly veg mix. Roasting root veg gives it a slightly sweeter flavour too!
