Angry anyone any tricks up their sleeve, food sometimes works but not for long!! Smile

Shock someone's nicked me abbreviation!!

I have an 18.5mo who behaves in a similar way in certain shops - basically he's apoplexic with rage because he doesn't particularly like shopping. I know it's hard but I do try to ignore the screaming/flailing, I just firmly carry on doing what I am doing and talk to him over his tantrum in a very bright falsettoGrin until he stops screaming and gets distracted. Then I gush about hos nie it is when he's being good (even if he's only stopped to draw breath) If he doesn't get anything out of it he WILL stop doing it eventually, honestly. Well, my elder son did, although he doesn't much like shopping either.

Thank you! maybe theres hope yet Grin its just so embarrassing and really annoying how some people look at you... as if I want him to be screaming his head off!!!

PS. sorry for nicking your name!!

Wow, thought it was just my child that did that. Dd 19m too and is an angel for the 20minutes it takes to walk to the shops then as we arrive all hell breaks loose. I have noticed recently that if she's tired, just before her nap time, then she is much more placid. Like she can't be arsed for the tantrum and has been very good. The only downer is that she occasionally falls asleep in the buggy on the way home - which is no good for me. They are all different but it may be worth a try.

DS1 was just the same at 18m. Happy as anything when out in the open, then screamed the place down as soon as we crossed the threshold of a shop. I am now waiting for DS2 (18m) to develop the shop phobia too.

Oh, I love this website! its sooo nice when you know other people have the same problem Smile maybe we should all go shopping at the same time! Imagine the horror of the other shoppers!! Grin
Unfortunately Bobalina DS doesn't like sleeping in his buggy!! and he's usually more ratty when he's tired... thanks for the advice though..Wink
