Is this normal....because I am really, really struggling.
Since starting school in sep, DS has become quite hyper and very silly. His body never seems to be still anymore. He falls, runs, seems all over the place, I helped him get dressed this morning and whilst he was being like a jelly, making stupid sounds etc but accidently bashed me on the nose.....blood everywhere. To my horror, no sorry just a strop from him.
The back chat is horrible, he keeps saying silly things. I feel like I have lost him!
There are a few very challenging boys in his class who he seems to really like :( Is this the problem do you think? How on earth do I sort it out?? Please help!

He will settle down. Our oldest 3 DS were all similar first couple of terms of reception, it's all new and lots of new learned behaviours to try out. Actually DS (2) shows same boundary pushing whenever he moves groups/rooms in pre-sxhool for three months. Christmas build up at Primary is a nightmare frenzy for them too until they're in year 5

I seem to remember, in a time long ago, that there are a number of times in a boys life they get a surge in testosterone and thinking one was close to them starting school.

Just be firm with him about what's acceptable.

Enjoy next term - it is easier.

My ds is very similar, I've just signed him up for martial arts in the hope that he will burn off some of his energy and learn to control it...possibly grasping at straws?! Ironically he was lovely over the holidays, back to school and I thought he'd be shattered, but still bouncing off the walls (literally) at gone 8pm!
