Predicting clothes sizes

Not sure if this is the right place and it is frivolous so apologies...

I want to get my b/g twins a few bits of clothing in the sales and didn't know if anyone can help me predict their sizes. They are just above 9th centile (born there and stayed there) and currently 5 and a half months and both in 3-6 month clothing.

I know sizes vary from store to store and they may have growth spurts etc. but I didn't know if there were any other 9th centilers out there who can advise when you moved up sizes. Also, I know the clothes have weight guidelines on them but based on those we'd still be in 0-3 months here but they did grow out of those a while back.

Thank you.

not sure if this is of help of not, but i found that once DS got through the first few sizes and was into 12-18 months the clothes tended to fit him for alot longer so you don't have to think so much about what season they will be what size when you are buying clothes like you do with the smaller sizes. He's still wearing some things now that he wore a year ago, and he has grown, they were on the big side now going small, also they tend to get longer and thiner as they get older

If it's any help, DD has always been between 9th -25th (although nearer 25th) and I would say very roughly two or three months behind the upper size limit, so at 8/9 months she'd just be growing out of the 3-6 months clothes. Now at nearly 23 months she's still in 12-18 but some 18-24s fit her if we roll the sleeves up.

Saying that different labels vary hugely as you'll find out but as a general rule the more expensive/designer, the smaller. Supermarket clothes: massive.

Ds was 9th centile at at that stage was a clothes size 'behind' so at 9 months was starting to move into 6-9 clothes.

At 3 he is still in 18-24 though so that pattern didn't last!

Dresses fit forever, thy just get shorter. Dd was still wearing 18-24m dresses at 4.

Buy ahead bold colour t shirts, tights to match.

DS wears trousers forever. He still wears his 12-18 shorts every summer too. But I regularly have to buy t shirts as his body is long and they don't reach his trousers long before his arms get too long.

Mine are 50 centile and I find all clothes too big. Gap and sainsbury are smallest. Next are a no go as are mothercare.

For my DD I find that sizing of Next, Mothercare, Asda always fit, Tesco, M&S, H&M always come thigh and some times short, but she is on 75 centile. Overall, all sizing are true, just have to buy bigger if you have a bigger baby :)
