Please please can someone help me solve the mystery of the green slime...?!

About three months ago, EBF DS (now 8mo) had about a month of green diarrhoea after a virus (cough, etc). Most of it was just slime, about ten nappies an hour sometimes, really not nice and he seemed uncomfy when feeding. Docs weren't very interested as he is (and was) massive and in all other ways healthy and cheery. I gave up dairy and he cleared up within 24h.

The thing is: the green slime is back. Not quite so frequent but green and very explosive. I have endured a whole Christmas without stollen, brandy butter or proper cake (etc) and have even been off soya for 5 days too, but to no avail.

I am not sure whether it is related, but he is very late starting solids - he will gnaw a rice cake sometimes but is basically uninterested in solid food either on the spoon or BLW. So he feeds all the time, and all night because he is clearly starving.

I am at my wits end trying to work out what else could be upsetting him. He has no rash or anything like that. Does anyone have any thoughts? I would really appreciate any - I am feeling a bit despairing about it, though he remains very cheery...

TIA

Has he had a full allergy test to confirm the dairy? I imagine they would do a range of things at the same time and this would give you a clue? My dd had 12 things tested for, iirc. (Two of which came up positive with query on the third)

No, we weren't offered tests. The doctor said it was possible he had become temporarily lactose intolerant after the bug so I assumed it was that, since he seemed to respond to giving up dairy. I suppose I will have to go back and ask for tests (we are away at the moment, to complicate things) but it'd have to be something that comes through in the milk, I think, since he is eating so little...

Get tested for soy as well at the same time. Cmp intolerance/allergy can be a pain, but it is very manageable. Soy is used often as a substitute, but some people such as my nephew are allergic to both.

Is it a vicious cycle, The late to wean? won't eat as prefers bf, then won't eat as bf has filled him up? I know how hard it can be, my dd was a boob monster until two and a half and even then only stopped because. I was in hospital for two weeks on strong drugs! She still has her hands constantly down there! (She did eat as well though, but I know some littles are just not interested? Food for fun until their one, isn't that the phrase? )
