Another fun new phase to deal with

So my dd is 17 months nearly 18 months and she has started to throw food on the floor at meal times, cutlery and she spits food out when she is bored of chewing. This is really starting to piss me off. I've tried ignoring it and it just made my blood boil. I have also tried to tell her off and all she does is cry and then point out my nose lol. She is also starting to get very insistent on me reading her book after book after book, twenty times over. I love her to pieces but I cannot read the same book 30 times over. Oh and screams when i do things like put her shoes on or her back pack (reins). She is starting to become very wingey and we haven't been able to get out too much because of the weather and I've tried everything to entertain her. This is such a frustrating age, they don't understand but yet they understand how to wind up mummy and b naughty. I'm pregnant and about to drop in the next 6 weeks so perhaps it's me. Just feeling like a pretty crap mummy at the moment.

Oh v clever girly - knows how to wind mummy up already!!! Try to ensure she retains her sense of humour no matter how peed off you feel. They don't know any better - can only really get through to them at 2 plus. Can use simple lingo to let her know how u feel to get the basics laid down. Gets worse before gets better unfortunately. 1.5 to 3 years is the best but worst as well. Enjoy but ensure u get a break!!!! Happy 2013!

Ps u doing fine. I have 5 month old, 2 year old and 4 year old. It gets better - Especially having more siblings!!!

What would u say is the best way to deal with her behaviour ( being distructive and throwing tantrums). Shall I just ignore her when she throws her food and spits it out? She doesn't seem to respond well to praise oddly. I've read all the recommended books and they don't really give u any direct answers. I know I need to really plan out my day with her as everything is on her terms really.

She has just thrown her breakfast all over the carpet I'm about to cry in frustration!! If u r wondering why it's so late it's because she's a fussy eater and I leave it out for her to graze on.

DS went through a phase of doing this when he finished a meal, he would throw the plate on the floor and any food that was on the table. We just said the same thing each time. No DS, when you're done, just leave your plate there. And we put the plate back on the table but pushed it away from him. He got there in the end!
