10week old dd constantly moaning or crying

Dd is 10 weeks old, shes my first baby.

Up until about 3 weeks old she was a really content baby. Now its a different story, she likes to be constantly entertained, or nursed etc

She wont be put down for long, 10mins max before shes crying and if i dont attend to her straightaway she gets herself into a screaming fit, going purple in the face shes screaming that hard. She does have colic but thats no where near as bad as it used to be.

She sleeps brilliant at night, full 9 hours. Doesnt sleep much during the day.

Health visitor has suggested i buy a sling and carry her around the house all day whilst i do things round the house etc.

I dont know if its a good idea to start that as i dont want her to become even more demanding.

Sometimes even when i do nurse her shes still crying and jerking herself back etc, that after a while i find myself losing my temper and being abit rough with her.

Has anyone any suggestions?

It sounds to me like your mum has unrealistic expectations of what 10 week old babies are like. At that age it is relentless, they can't entertain themselves at all-and if you play with them too much they get overstimulated and then scream! It will get easier, I promise Smile

Could your baby be over tired? as 9 hours sleep does not sound enough, 12hours is more normal. She is probably so exhausted crying all day she could sleep on a clothes line. She sounds too tired in the day to enjoy play or interact with anyone.
10 week olds are more inquisitive and need more entertaining but if she has had at least 2 day naps she should be more content than she is at the moment.
If you are not keen on a sling Try letting her sleep in the same room she sleeps at night, use a comforter with your smell on it. Babies over 13lbs are ready for the cot as the moses basket is too small. When you think she is tired and fussy during the day go in the bedroom to help her relax and chill, play some relaxing classical music, sit and hold her, use a light show or changing lights to distract her. She will make a nice sleep association with her bedroom. Use your baby monitor so that when she is asleep you can have peace of mind and a bit you time. You need a big hug.
