4.6 DD and naked family pictures - normal, right?

DD aged 4.6 has just drawn anatomically correct pictures of the family.

Until now she's focussed on correct hair and clothing, but today it's nudey, with all bits correct and present. Nothing dodgey going on.

This is completely normal, right? I assume it is, but a teeny bit of me thinks I should ask here in case there's a red flag, or something developmental going on that maybe we need to talk through with her. We're relaxed about nudity around the house as far as streaking to the shower goes, so she's seen it all before.

And it's extremely fortunate that we live Down Under and the summer holidays started yesterday so she has six weeks to get through this phase before producing one for the teachers to see?

Sorry, am about to disappear as it's a sunny mid-morning and I have to take the squabbling DCs out :)

Totally normal Grin

Jinsei · 19/12/2012 22:31

I don't think it's normal, no. But only because I think it's unusually advanced for a child of that age to be able to draw pictures like that. Nothing to worry about! :)

NakedStickFigures · 20/12/2012 01:30

Jinsei :o it's hardly Cezanne - more the usual blobby stick figures. And 'correct' is still in the form of an indicative straight line here (toddler brother's is little), a scribble there. Apparently it was here idea and she hasn't seen anyone at preschool do it, which is where I assume her usual inspiration comes from :)

Thanks, everyone - one for the family album, then!

My six year old has started drawing pockets on everyone so we all look like we have droopy tits.

NakedStickFigures · 20/12/2012 01:42

Savoy :o
(Sadly the droopy tits she drew on mine were intentional)

My then 5 year old DD decided to "celebrate" the Jubilee by drawing an anatomically correct picture of the Queen doing a poo and a wee.

RillaBlythe · 20/12/2012 12:18

My dd has done this - age 4. Pointed it out to her granny - "& there's daddy's big willy". Normal.

BornToFolk · 20/12/2012 12:23

I love the pooing and weeing Queen!

DS went through a phase of drawing belly buttons on all his stick figures. It would literally be body, circle for head, lines for arms and legs and then a scribble for a belly button.

It's weird the things they choose to focus on!

My sister and I made deliberatley 'rude' snap cards including poos and wees when we were primary school kids. Possibly to see what reaction there was. Parents thought they were hilarious...

Pantofino · 20/12/2012 13:44

Dd drew a picture of Daddy with an enormous willy at Kindergarten. The teacher pinned it on the wall. We had a good old snigger. DH was mortified Grin

gourd · 20/12/2012 13:44

We actually played snap with them too till we realised that the badly sketched private parts were just too badly sketched to actually be able to tell what they were supposed to be in time to shout "Snap!" before the other kid had put another card down...

My DD went through a stage about a year ago when she would draw people naked and have a line bewteen the legs for a girl/lady and a stick hanging down for a willy, she would then turn the paper over and put a poo hole on the back, so so funny!!! Me and DH thought it was so funny but it only lasted a few weeks and she has never done it since!!!
