My ds is a pretty early riser, between 5.30 am and at latest 6.20. When he wakes I pick him up from cot in his room, take him into my bed, lights still off, and give him a bottle of milk.(if I don't he just shouts 'mu mu' until I get it!) Then we cuddle, sometimes he falls asleep again but recently he just is restless and hassles me and dh until we give in and switch on light and show him teletubbies on our phone! currently we can keep him entertained on our bed for a good hour before having to head downstairs for breakfast, but I'm wondering whether before long he ain't gonna want to sit on or bed and well be forced to actually get up with him. What do you do with your kids of similar age in the first hour they get up? Am I goingto have to kiss goodbye to my nice quiet morning bed sessions soon? He can't quite walk yet but is on verge...

My dd is 17 months and once she up, she's up. I never bring her into my bed, but that's my preference I would rather just get up,dressed, and get her breakfast and play or tv till its time to go anywhere.
Some babies are just early risers, sorry! Smile

I don't get up that time...

Any time before 7am is treated at nighttime, so if they wake before I would resettle in cot.

They now wake around 7.30, and occupy themselves for 20/30 mins with a book left in cot or singing to themselves etc

forever what time does your one go to bed? We've tried resettling and it definitely didn't work beyond 6am. Bedtime is 7pm so I feel that 6am is realistic wake up time. Even though its earlier than I'd like!

7.30 pm if they wake at that time. They pretty much do 12 hrs as half the week due to our work etc they go to bed at 8.30/9pm and get up at 8.30/9am

They also have a 2 hrs day time nap regardless ( just time changes)

My DS is 14 months as well and was always an early riser - 5:30/6am - and it was driving me crazy. Now he's mastered walking fully in the last couple of weeks, he's sleeping later though and usually wakes around 7 or 7:15am.

If he wakes early I will try to resettle him but when that doesn't work I give him a cup of milk and let him play around his room for an hour until we go downstairs for breakfast. Meanwhile, I slump in the corner 'resting my eyes', trying to pretend it's not that early...Hmm.

I would say once your DS is walking properly he'll start to sleep a bit later so you'll be able to just all get up together at 7am or even 7:30am if you're lucky!

napa I have heard what you say from a few people...I really hope it is the case for ds. He needs to hurry up!
