WWW's Ds has a question for all you with 8yos - do they just do as they're told when they're asked to do it?

Ds is 8.5 and wants to know, he's sitting here now. We have just had a minor confrontation because I wanted him to have a shower (once a week, am very lax on this) and he wanted to argue with me about it for 10 minutes first. Anyway he's here and fragrant and I said I'd ask you lot if your 8yos are more or less compliant?

Thank you on behalf of www's ds!

I've just read these additional replies out to ds, thank you everyone! I know, once a week is very lax isn't it? Oh well!

phew, glad I'm not the only one! I have to shoe-horn dd1 into the shower once a week, she hates it! And re. the arguing - she will often try it on (particularly re. the time to go to bed/settle down) - but tbh it is more of a reasoned discussion than a shouting/whining match. (if it descended to the latter I wouldn't join in!). Like kalex and QE2, she knows that some things are just not worth arguing about Smile

Tegan - same in my house too!! My dd2 is 8.5 also and seems to take great pleasure in arguing the toss with me about every little thing. She delights in finding at least 20 things why she shouldn't do as I ask!! I have to count to 1000 sometimes and then I sit in the garden!!Angry

Browny - it's really hard sometimes especially when you have younger kids and all they hear is you shouting at the eldest.

I have told DD1 that by the time her 2 week holiday is over I want her to be the most helpful 8 yr old ever.

well WWW's ds, all I can say is that if you are smelly they won't let you into the new Arsenal Stadium...

And if you are VERY good then I may be able to find some tickets for you next season.

Cd, he is being whiny child from hell this morning but when he is nice to me I may tell him about your post, wow, we'd be very grateful, thanks!
