Duvet for bed-wetting 5yo... one that's warm AND fits into washing machine??

I'm not sure where to post this as so far no-one in Good Housekeeping has answered! I recently bought a new 13.5 tog duvet for DS's bed which is described as machine washable. DS is just 5 and still wets the bed sometimes. So you can imagine I was Angry this morning when I found that the bloody thing doesn't fit into our washing machine! So that was a waste of money.

Are there any warm but NOT thick single duvets that people have washed? Otherwise I guess I'll have to go for one of those with 2 thin duvets that popper together but they are so much more £££...

Sorry that should be the other way around, ikea are probably more cotton than polyester fleece

I have the PERFECT duvets for you. They are called 'Spundown' and are costly but are designed specially for washing at home. I have two bedwetters (up to early teens - poor me and poor them) and have been washing the duvets - sometimes several times a week - for years and they are still going strong.

They are also perfect for children, indeed anybody, with allergies as they can be washed.

I must admit that my frequent bedwetters use them without covers as that cuts down so much on the washing!

Thanks for the tip, will check Dunelm mill Smile.

Greenwing - fortunately he only does it now and then, I reckon these or a duvet protector would be a sound investment if otherwise but at present our cash is a bit tight (= extra p'd off at other duvet not fitting into machine! However it IS nice and warm, may use it as loft insulation...).

Mind you I'll remember the spundown info, would be great if we could wash our own duvet ie kingsize! Perhaps sometime in the future...

Definitely an IKEA children's duvet. Cheap, lightweight but warm.

Numpty The Argos value 10.5 tog ones, I wash then just hang over the top of one of the doors, turn over at lunchtime, dry by bedtime.

All of us use the 10.5 tog ones all year round.

Catsdontcare · 13/10/2012 18:24

Ds has a 7.5 tog duvet and it fits in the washer. I also tumble dry it on a low setting.

We do all have one of <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=microwaveable+dinosaurs&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1024&bih=432&tbm=isch&tbnid=ukHIGIW0QUe3qM:&imgrefurl=blog.everythingdinosaur.co.uk/blog/_archives/2009/10/18/4355542.html&docid=6PCh2aBxZvSOrM&imgurl=blog.everythingdinosaur.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/dinosaur_bedtime_buddies_ba.jpg&w=715&h=252&ei=o6R5UN6zKeOq0QWDroH4CA&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=135&sig=105108458588633789619&page=1&tbnh=100&tbnw=284&start=0&ndsp=8&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0,i:72&tx=153&ty=56" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">these each with the 10.5 tog duvets.

Sainsburys always have them at christmas on 3 for 2 offer, I have a cat one rather then a dino!

porthcurnick · 13/10/2012 18:32

In case that's not obvious from the picture, they are those microwaveable heated wheat bag dinosaur thingys.

NumptyMum · 14/10/2012 17:08

Cute dinosaurs! I don't have a microwave though. I'd go for the cat too, we have a real cat but he disappears from the bed when we get in, doesn't like that we take up so much of his space...

Also I think the cat would pack his bags if he saw us microwaving a cat to keep us warm!

Oh, in case anyone is looking/wondering, the ALDI duvet is actually a slumberdown. Except it's not to be tumble dried. Just hope it dries as quickly as yours, porthcurnick.
