Has anyone experienced this? DS 4 1/2, does a lot of drawing but not keen on writing at all, which is fine because he's only four and a half. But he has started writing his name, but from right to left and with the letters reversed. I havent held it up to a mirror yet but it looks like mirror writing!!! Its quite spooky!!

Is this a normal developmental stage?

CD I was forcefully retrained from left handed to right handed writing in Austria (not Australia Grin) and that was in the 70's!)

Kittyb... dd started writing letters and numbers aged 3.5/3 and didn't do mirror writing but sort of turned everything by either 90 or 180 degrees clock and counter clockwise :)

Now (4.5y) she can write her name perfectly, but if she runs out of space she just continues above! Grin

so your ds is perfectly normal I'm sure

No it isn't a sign of dyslexia, because my dd did it and she certainly isn't dyslexic - lazy yes - dyslexic no!

DS1 is 6 and lefthanded. He has always naturally wanted to write everything back to front. He can write normally but will automatically go back to mirror writing if he's not concentrating.
