my 16 month old has been using the potty for wees for a few months now but today whnen we were at friends (without potty) she kept wanting to go upstairs to the bathroom. When I took her nappy off it was bone dry, sge would not go when I held her on the big toilet so DP brought us home.
As soon as she sat on the potty she did a really big wee. I left her wityhout a nappy for about 5 mins while I was on the phone to my mum. Whilst I was on the phone she sat oin the potty herself and did a poo.

That is the first time she has done this for me.

I just wanted to share this with you all.

suzywong · 27/12/2003 11:52

the beauty of MN is that you know we are all very very pleased for you and actually interested in the pooey and weey details
(my DS1 at 2.8 is still in colossal nappies that give me the creeps, he starts nursery in two weeks and they can sort him out)

Well done mini Hogmany

Demented · 27/12/2003 18:33

That's fab Hogmonay, what a quick learner!

Hogmanay · 27/12/2003 22:33

popsycal, I bought it in September. Grandad looked after her for the afternoon and she practically dragged him up the stairs when she had a mucky bum

my dd pointed at a pooey nappy which i thought was brillant it's the first time she realsed what she'sdone

Today DD did a poo in the potty without any prompting from me. She then came to find me as I had gone into her room to get something whilst she was on the potty

Hulababy · 06/01/2004 16:41

Can I have a proud moment or two today?

My 21 month old DD came out of nursery todaysinging me nursery rhymes and actually gettiing most of the words right and in the right order. I have now heard her renditions of Baa Baa Black Sheep, Twinkle Twinkle, Incy Wincy Spider and Wind the Bobbin Up several times in the car on the way home but don't care. It was so lovely and she is so proud of herself, clapping at the end of each one

Also at nursery she has been doing really well. Her nursery nurses are so pleased and happy with her development, especially language and comprehension and eagerness to learn they are letting her have the odd sessions in the next class - normally for 2.5 years plus. She has been down there this afternoon and has loved it, interacting with the older children no problems. She especially loved the story time and the video of birds they have watched and talked about. She even attempted to join in witht he discussions after, bless her. The manager has said that whenever they have a spare place and there is enough staff she can go down and join them again - she will love that

ds went for 2.5 yr development check with HV yesterday. was rather perplexed when she offered pre-school booster jabs. turns out she thought he was 3.5 due to his excellent language skills

ThomCat · 06/01/2004 17:09

Ahhh Hulababy - that's great!
Lottie locks me in her stare and says 'Row Row' with the most amazing pouted lips when she says it, until I sing Row, row, row your boat to her.
She also crosses her fingers and pushes them in my direction which means sing 3 blind mice, if she bangs her head that's Jack and Jill and if she wags her finger that's Hickory Dickory Dock! Oh the joy of nursey rhymes!!!!

I just love these threads! My ds is 20 months and until yesterday had not said more thatn 2 words together. (Juice Mummy etc)Yesterday at the par he stood in a rather big puddle, pointed to his feet and said 'Oh no Mummy - foot wet!' I was so proud. I love this stage so much.

bossykate · 07/01/2004 11:09

thank you, batters all these stories are lovely, aren't they?

alibubbles · 07/01/2004 13:41

Ilove hearing about everyones proud moments. I've had a few with my mindies today ( School doesn't start back until the 12th) - I was a softie and offered to have them so the mums could get some marking done. They were both delighted to see me with big hugs and cuddles.

The baby who is 11 months heard the newcaster on TV say goodbye and promptly saud 'bye bye' and waved. It is just like my own all over again. Won't tell mum though!

Thomact, Lottie sounds as though she is coming along really well. Time you posted a pic of her birthday!
