What does this mean (child psychology-wise)?

DD's just turned 19 months and has started to deliberately throw her very favourite Bobble Cat out of bed and immediately cry for her to be given back, ad infinitum, when I put her down at night. Is this some weird attachment 'thing' or am I reading too much into it?

I'm no psychologist, but I would say she has twigged that it gets you back in (or may get you back in) to her to give it back. Smile

mimsy like

ermmm I'd say you are reading too much into it, its an attention thing, she throws it out you have to stay/come back and put it back - cause and affect

(although I wait now for a psychologist to come and say otherwise in case I am damaging my children Smile)

its a game!

she has you wrapped around her little finger.

give it back to her and tell her you are going to bed and if bobble cat falls out of bed again she's going to be really sad becuase she'll have to sleep on the floor all night

Pumpster · 16/09/2012 22:07

It gets attention!

5madthings · 16/09/2012 22:17

um it prolongs bedtime! its a game she does it because she can and it works!

Agree with other posters. It's about attachment - to you Smile

I would start to extend the length of time it take you to come and give Bobble Cat back to her. eventually she'll realise that the reward of getting you for a moment isn't worth the time she ends up without him waiting for her.

She's a smart cookie Grin

It means you have a clever little poppet who loves having her Mummy about!

But sleeping time is sleeping time.... etc.

Oh!

What a cheeky little tinker. Thanks so much, all. Hmm. Mummy can play the Bobble Cat game too...
