No nappy can contain my kid's wee!

My 15 month old pees like a racehorse and soaks through his nappies at night. He often wakes up crying and has to be changed. Have tried various brands of nappies but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

Try going up a size - they'll often leak when you need to do this, even though they still look like a good fit - and using Active Fit nappies. Alternatively try putting a terry nappy over the disposable to give extra insulation :)

Yep, sizing up might work. I did that already but might try one extra size. Generally leaks out of the top so if I get ones that come up to his armpits that might do the trick.

remember to point his willy down too!

Grin I did try that last night actually as it was coming out of the front of the nappy. No joy though.

My 15 month old is the same. I have to change him twice in the night and what feels like constantly during the day. I use pampers active fit as they seem like the best of a bad bunch but we still have leaks even going up a size etc. Baby dry seem to be the worst. He does drink a lot during the day but only has one bottle of water during the night.

Fuzzymum1 · 14/09/2012 14:03

would adding an incontinence pad inside the nappy help?

IawnCont · 14/09/2012 14:05

I found that pampers and huggies leak a lot. The best are Morrissons very very cheapest- It's something like £1.50 a pack- They're brilliant. Also, Lidl brand are good.

ValiumQueen · 14/09/2012 14:05

Try bamboo washable nappies. The only thing that keeps my DD dry. Bum the size of a football though.

There is a nappy board on MN by the way.

crackcrackcrak · 14/09/2012 14:06

Is it worth just going in and changing him before you go to bed? I say this as I can change dd whilst asleep and she won't wake -sorry if that would create a problem with your ds

MoaningMingeWhingesAgain · 14/09/2012 14:07

Have you tried any washable nappies? You can get bamboo and hemp boosters to go inside them and it makes them very absorbent - I used them for both babies. You could just get 1 or 2 second hand to trial?

For disposables I found normal pampers (not active fit) were the best but they keep changing them all the time so it may have changed Smile

AngelDog · 14/09/2012 21:51

A maxi nighttime sanitary towel stuck inside the nappy helps us, as does a hemp booster and wool / PUL wrap (intended for cloth nappies) over the top.

2.8 y.o. DS suffers from leaks at the top so I wrap a long cloth booster around his waist too - but you do need a wrap to go over it.

nicki1978 · 15/09/2012 15:41

We had the same problem with DS for last 5-6 mths whose now 14 mths; both huggies and pampers just couldn't cut it even going up a size. But, we've found a solution..........aldi's own size 5's they are fantastic they are even great at keeping pooplotions in! Xx

nicki1978 · 15/09/2012 15:42

and they are half the price of pampers and huggies and same number of nappies. Xx

amck5700 · 15/09/2012 15:46

I used to get cheaper nappies and "double bag" at nightime.

MigGril · 15/09/2012 22:24

when ever we've had DS in disposables (not often as he's normally in cloth at home). I've had to double up the night time nappy, put on one then put a hole in it then out on a seconed one.

Cloth ones work well for us normally use cotton or Bamboo nappies with hemp or bamboo boosters.

I knew you were going to say he was 15 months before I opened this thread. Apparently they have some sort of hormone surge at that age which means they wee far more at night. My DS had it too but it seemed to settle again fairly quickly and it isn't a problem now.

janey223 · 16/09/2012 23:40

The only nappies I've found that keep LO dry enough (he wakes up if he's too soaked and won't go back to sleep) are asdas little angels comfort dry xx

Tweedledeedum · 18/09/2012 02:52

Try the Naty Nature nappies, I am amazed by how much wee they hold without leaking! He has them on 12 hours at night and never leaked. Huggies the mattress would be wet in the morning, Pampers smell awful so abandoned them too.
