Hi
My 3 yo is now dry day and night and has started parttime school on Wednesday. Today he said he had a poo in school he shouted help help but noone came so he wiped himself and today be has been and asked me could he wipe himself and not mummy.

He did it fine and then said "im a big boy i can do it on my own"

is three too young to let him do this or should i just let him get on with it? He can flush and wash his hands but i alway watch and check its done right.

So is three too young and what age was your child when they wanted to do it on their own?

Thanks

You might have to check he's clean still. It's fine for him to do it though...otherwise he'd never learn! Mine both needed to be checked till they were about 4 or 5.

Thank you

I will just follow his lead and keep an eye on him then.

Lucky you, my little boy refused to do it himself till recently and he is almost 5! I kept telling him that he would have to do or himself at school and he finally did it. Goin on your little one being so independant.

My ds has just turned 4. I'd got as far as getting him to pull off loo roll and make a token effort before I did it for him, but over the last couple weeks he's started really trying after MrNC told him it's your bottom, you wipe it!
He does very neat non-splatty poo though so hard to tell if he's doing it well. He's also usually remembering to wash hands now. Very glad he wasn't 2 weeks older and starting school this week!
