Simple game where you match up colours?

SALT has just been and recommended we get a colour matching game to help ds (2.2 yr) practice taking turns.

The one she had had lots of little plastic monkeys in 4 different colours that you placed on 4 different coloured cards.

I've had a google but can't really see anything similar. Anyone got any recommendations?

TIA

Big bag of coloured counters/buttons and devise your own?

Red dog blue dog? Or the house that jack built? Both involve matching colours.

The fruit orchard by haba?

Thanks everyone. I was looking for something really simple as he is only just 2. Literally just putting red things on a red board and green on a green, that is what the SALT had. These seem a little more sophisticated, I don't want him to get frustrated and me to start interfering. He can't even manage snap yet!

EduCated, I was thinking of that but figured they would be too fiddly for him to pick up and slow things down. But having a look through the toy cupboard I might try a giant sized version with Duplo blocks and sheets of card.

Hmm, what about the packs of plastic playballs like you get in ball pools that they have in ELC?

Pairing socks.

Real ones- not toy ones. Generally childrenlove doing real jobs- and pairing up the socks is a brilliant way of killing two birds with one stone.

Be careful, though. I once heard my ds muttering to himself "No, youse two castn't be frwiends- youse diffwnt colours'Blush

EduCated · 11/09/2012 22:38

These or these?

EduCated · 11/09/2012 22:45

Bit more expensive:

Buttons

People

Bears

DoubleYew · 11/09/2012 23:33

Have tried the socks. He is obsessed with using the sock drier thing with all the clips so just spends ages fiddling with that and ignoring me searching for its partner. If I hide it he tries to hang them off any available door handle or shelf.

The bears could work well. We have play balls but I'll have to adapt it a bit as they'll roll around.

Thanks for your help!

Could you get done cardboard boxes and wrap in paper? Or some cheap washing up bowls? Obviously more involved but you get 4 washing bowls out of it Grin

Tesco have got little plastic storage boxes which I think could work. I could put coloured card into the base as they are see through.

We are on our second cardboard post box as he climbed on the first one and flattened it so that is probably not a go-er.
