hi ds2 is now 2yr 10 mo + a big lad - despite our best efforts he still isnt potty trained + am now finding it a struggle to get a pampers babydry size 6 nappy on him at night due to his size + he is waking early every morning as they leak. was wondering what else i can put him in - have bought huggies nightime pull ups and drynite pyjama pants but wasnt sure if these would make him feel wet + wake up more (not ideal as have a 5wk old ds2) or how much wee these do actually hold. any tips or suggestions much appreciated.

Not sure I'll be much help but hopefully I might be! My son is 19 months & I have used reuseables up until about a month ago when his night time wees seem to have gone mental in terms of volume. I then tried pampers active fit, pampers pull Ups,buggies something or others. In desperation I tried lidl nappies having read good reviews. I wasn't really expecting them to be any different to pampers et al,but they haven't let me down yet. He still wees enormously at night but his clothes aren't wet in the morning which is good enough for me. They seem much more absorbent than anything else I tried. I got another 52 pack of size 4 yesterday for £5.49,so they are much better value too! Hope that's of assistance to you!

My 2.8 y.o. is also a huge night time wee-er. For a while now we've been using Sainsbury's size 6 with a maxi nighttime sanitary towel stuck inside. We also use a cloth (wool) wrap over the top - wool can absorb 30% of its weight before it starts to leak. We sometimes use a plastic wrap instead.

In the last few weeks even that has started leaking at the top, so I've added a cloth booster (hemp) which I wrap around his waist like a belt, under the wrap. It seems to be working so far.

I know other people who've put two nappies on, but this didn't work due to DS's nappy leaking out of the top.

Huggies and Sainsbury's seem to be the only nappies big enough for the purpose (I've not tried Lidl though). DS is big - almost 3 stone and 99th centile weight/height.

Other suggestions I've heard have been to increase fluid intake during the day so there's less night-time wee (doesn't work for DS as he drinks like a fish all the time) and restricting evening fluids (again, doesn't work for us).

DS isn't potty trained, but we have been doing EC since he was 8 months, so he can use the toilet. I always get him to use the loo before going to bed.

One thing we tried when getting ds2 out of night-time nappies was to get him to have a last wee after stories, not only at bath-time. You're probably doing this already but it made a big difference as most wee was in the first couple of hours of sleep, I think.

Boots nappies are good for dryness and the sizes are generous Smile

Boots nappies weren't big enough for my DS - at least, not with a sanitary towel inside.

errr, how big is he? Try Pampers pull ups size 6- not Babydry. DS was in them until he was 5, and he was a big 5 year old...about 21kg and 120cm tall.

Asda dry nights.
