Hiccups

I'm hoping someone will be able to offer advice. My four week old suffers from hiccups, especially after night feeds. They usually last around 15 minutes. I have spoken to tge health visitor who has told me not to worry but I'm wondering if I can do anything to prevent them. Usually, they occur when I put her back in her carry cot when she is half asleep x

They all get them. Did yours hiccup in the womb? Mine did and still does (9 weeks) at the same time of day he did then! I really don't think it bothers them - just bothers us. It does seem to be a sign of over excitement/ overstimulation in my baby, so I often put him in the sling or lie him in his bed when they start.

My health visitor told me that it was the babies way of dealing with wind. Not sure how true that is. My three DC get hiccups when they are laughing and have done ever since they were babies. It goes after 10/15 minutes.

I really don't think it's anything to worry about but you can always speak to your gp at the 6 week check.

My dd (now 12 weeks) gets hiccups at least twice a day and has since birth. They do bother her at times, especially recently. I find putting her back the boob makes them go away - all that sucking and swallowing I guess!
