14mo DD cries when people laugh, inc. her Daddy!

He does laugh quite loudly, and show lots of teeth, so don't know if she's confused and thinks he's angry or upset. As he is SAHD, it can be quite wearing for him, esp as she sometimes takes ages (anything up to an hour) to calm down again.

Any ideas of how to reassure her? Or do we just wait for it to pass?

(She doesn't mind if I laugh, in fact she smiles at me)

Maybe it's the suddenness of the laughing? Can he tone it down a bit??

And yes plenty of reassurances so she knows it's ok.

Is he laughing AT her? My DDs cry if they even vaguely think you're laughing AT rather than WITH them.

No Harecare, he doesn't have to be laughing at her (although she doesn't like that either). We noticed it is worse if we have friends round, or we're out visiting and chatting/laughing. I have asked DP if he can tone it down a bit, but quite hard to do.

She's not bothered by loud noises generally, quite happy at her fairly boisterous toddler group, Jo Jingles etc.

Will advise administering lots of cuddles and wait for her to figure it out I guess.

It's probably akin to having someone shout at you - scary because it's someone she knows? If its a full blown belly laugh, mouth open etc, I can see why as her sense of humour and social skills wouldn't be that developed. I'm sure it'll pass!
