Do NT toddlers flap their arms when excited too?

My DD these past few days has been flapping her arms (not hands so much) when excited. It's quick and passes - but it must be new as I've not noticed it before.

I'm sure I read NT toddlers also flap arms etc - as well as those with autism. Am I right? I dont even know why it rang alarm bells as I have no other worries in this respect.

Ds is not autistic and flaps his hands and arms. He does have some sensory issues but we saw the ot today and she said lots of kids flap when excited so without otherissues it is not a concern.

William is autistic and does but on the long list of things they used to diagnosis him it wasn't considered so I take that to mean it is normal and not something to be concerned about.

DD flaps her arms/hands when excited, but there are no other indications that she has SN so I'm not worried.

my dd did this until recently as did my elder four children when they were toddlers. none of them have any learning difficulties/special needs. i think its quite common in toddlers and on its own not a cause for concern :)

My 2.8 y.o. has done this for over a year. I have no reason to suspect he has special needs, and I'm pretty confident he doesn't have autism (he enjoys 'shared attention' to something, and he talks about what other people are thinking / feeling etc).

Most of the children at playgroup do this! I'd guess it's normal.
