Sleep tips

Has anyone got any advice on getting my 22 month old to sleep on her own in less than 1 hour 30 mins??? She used to be a really good sleeper, we could put her in her cot say goodnight and leave her alone and she would fall asleep very quickly. However, when she could stand up in her cot we were frigthtened she would climb out so we started rocking her to sleep in a rocking chair and putting her down once she was fast asleep. She is getting far too big for this now and she herself wants to be in her cot. But, after her milk and a story, we put her into her cot, give her a kiss and leave her alone. If we leave the room she cries and cries until eventually we go back in (I don't like leaving her really upset at bedtime) or if we stay in the room it can take up to 1 hour 30 mins for her to fall asleep. She plays with her toys (which is not an issue) but she stands up, tries to climb out, throws her toys out of the cot, anything to avoid going to sleep. I have tried not talking to her and lying her down when she stands up, I have tried rubbing her back, gently rocking her in her cot but nothin is working. My husband has tried reading to her until she goes to sleep, but he fell asleep first.

Any advice would be gratefully recieved.

I'd put her to sleep in a bed - she sounds like she doesn't want to be in her cot. Is there a reason you're keeping her in it?

I'd second that. Maybe moving her in a big bed would make a difference. Also she's grown so she might be less tired and might fall asleep faster if put to bed a little later?
