How can I stop saying this around a million times a day?

Since DS potty trained, he just cannot leave himself alone. I thought at the beginning it was kind of a new 'toy' for him to play with but it's been a few months now and it's constant.

I've tried ignoring it, distracting him, the above phrase and nothig seems to be working.

Any ideas?

How old is your DS?

GobblersKnob · 19/08/2012 12:08

Well ignoring it won't make it stop, it's not for attention, it's just becuase it feels good (am assuming with the potty training that ds is very young, rather than a 19 year old oik that you have been moaning at for many a year Grin).

Nevertheless, just continue to ignore until he is old enough to understand that it is perfectly okay but something he should do in private.

DS is 3, he starts nursery next month.

I have visions of him happily strolling about the claassroom, having a good ol rummage Blush

I can't remember how old DS was when he did this but I do remember have similar concerns. He just got bored of it eventually.

Is he wiping/shaking himself properly when he's finished? Could be mild irritation. (just a thought)

My son is 4 and starting school and in sept and does exactly the same, I was told by his pre school not to say anything but if he starts to get his willy out in public just tell him to put it away which I have done twice. He has only started doing it recently at home and pre school and we have worked out is generally when bored. His pre school lady said it is very common and totally normal and if you look around you see lots of little boys doing it and I have noticed it alot now. Hopefully will stop doing it when he starts school and is stimulated again!!

DS walks about at home with no pants on so he can get his fiddling fix.

We've got a "pants on" rule for visitors.

Otherwise he doesn't fiddle - we keep him very busy when out!

Iggly · 19/08/2012 13:40

He's 2.10 BTW

Thumbwitch · 19/08/2012 13:44

I suppose you'd rather I didn't tell you that DH still does this and he's 36, hey. HmmGrin
Not when he's in outdoor clothes, or out of the house - but at home he likes to wear trackies with no underwear and is frequently found fiddling with himself. I refuse to talk to him while his hands are in his pants. It's not his penis, btw but his balls - strange bloke. Hmm

DS started showing his willy, just a little bit out the top of his pants, for humour Hmm when he was 4 - he's 4.8 now and I think mostly I've stopped that, but he still finds it hilarious to shake his bum and bits at us when he's getting dressed/undressed for bed.

Thanks guys, at least I know it's not just him :)

DS has always liked waggling it about after baths etc, he seems very proud of it :o

He hasn't shared his willy with the outside world yet, if we're out then he will keep his hands outside his clothes but still plays about with it. He's doing a 'dance' apparently. If we are indoors then it's hands down the pants, or naked from the waist down.

Hopefully I will get to wake up one morning without him standing right next to my head making sure it's still there [hmmm]

I asked why my friend's son always wore a vest and apparently it's one of those popper ones so he doesn't put his hands in his pants- I guess it takes more effort if you have to undo poppers so he doesn't do it absent mindedly?
