Ive posted on here before about my ds silent reflux.
He was on ranitidine for 6weeks worked for about 4 but.the screaming after a bottle has returned.
Been to the gp and he wouldnt up his doseage of ranitidine but now wants me to trial either a pepti or lactose free milk.
This is also because ds has eczema on his arm about the size of a 10p coin, he also coughs a lot at night and can aometimes sound wheezy after a feed.
I did try him on hipp and it had awful results more sick and eczema flare up on faceso back to comfort and the face eczema has gone which is why dr wants to trial milk.

I am kind of neevous as my ds is a content little boy throughout the day, sleeps decent at night and doesnt sick up a lot but possetts abit.
Trialing a hypo milk ive heard can make the sick worse as its thinner :(
i dont want to make him worse as such.
Is it possible that he has eczema due to us being aufferers of it quite bad or is it likely to be the milk.

I dont get why the dr wudnt up the meds aa ranitidine is weight sensitive :(

sorry for rambling on but i am really hesitant to change milks as he is a happy chappy just suffering with eczema.

Anyone had this at al

x

I have a similar problem with my dd. she is a healthy chubby girl but suffers from eczema in her face and upper body we have tried everything the dr has prescribed her the hypoallergenic milk and like you I am worried as I have heard children don't take to it well and also lose weight. I get the prescription on fri dr said to try it for 6 weeks and see if it clears up. She also has tummy trouble. If you are not sure ask to be referred to the hospital as they know a lot more. I'm sorry that I have gone on a bit Smile hope everything turns out ok

It's called nutramagin I'm just waiting for the prescription to be ready. I agree with you it's awful with dd we have even tried steroid creams on her face and it hasn't cleared it up so this is the only alternative. Does your child have any other symptoms? Dd also has watery and stringy poo (sorry tmi) and you can tell she is uncomfortable after the feed. I would try it my dr wouldn't prescribe it because it's expensive so had to see a paed who prescribed it. You have to do what's right. Also if the child is young they get used to the taste but as they get older it's harder for them to get used to it. You should speak to the dr and if you have tried everything else consider the milk. Good luck I will let you know how we get on Smile

Havnt tried no steriod cream yet.
He has watery poo but mainly because hes on comfort milk and it makes them green and loose.
After a feed he screams for a min or so. duno if its due to his reflux or because we took the bottle away (greedy boy loves his milk).
However the ranitidine stopped any screaming after feeds so made sense to continue with that for me but nevermind suppose its only 2weeks, but if he hates it im not going to force him as hes pretty much ok apart from what ive said. x

Eczema, reflux and gastro problems usually come from a intolerance or allergy to cows milk protein so it makes sense to try a hypoallergenic formula as it could pretty much cure him of all his current ailments. I've heard Aptamil Pepti 1 is one of the more agreeable tasting ones.

I don't think your doctor would prescribe it, but you can get a goats milk formula, I think Nannycare is one brand and Holle is another... available through online retailers such as Ulula or Goodness Direct. I would leave that as a last resort as obviously it'd be better for you to get one on prescription (free!).

I would give Pepti a go, as your LO might be a totally different baby on it. And allergies are strange things, it's possible to become addicted to the things that are really bad for us. It might be that your baby gets comforted by the sucking more than the milk itself, he probably won't even notice the difference in taste.

could i add a thickener to the hypo milk as its thin it comes up too easy? sorry to bombard with questions, its just i want my LO to be ok.
