How old is your baby?

Feeling sick when your baby cries is normal.

It's good that your DH is dealing with it.

Does he normally cry? Is he overtired? Does dummy/swaddling/leaving him in the dark work? (I'm presuming not)

I've got to try to go to bed now, hoping that baby will settle. I feel miserable. Thanks for your help ladies. xxx

Your DH is a twat. You are NOT useless. Sometimes there is no way to stop a baby crying - even an older one. If he's not normally like this then it might well be teething or an illness developing. Hopefully the calpol will work in a minute. What else have you tried so far?

LynetteScavo · 14/08/2012 21:46

Babies can seem to be being stubborn when they are over tired.

LynetteScavo · 14/08/2012 21:47

Will it help your baby if you take him into bed with you, then your DH can move him when you are both asleep.

Hope you all sleep well. x

oh rubbish
stubborn is a purposeful intent, a refusal to comply
baby crying isnt stubborn its involuntary and reactive.there will be a reason eg teething

Pekka · 14/08/2012 21:56

If you don't get support from you DH, it just makes it worse. Let's hope your DH grows up and that DS has calmed down.

scottishmummy · 14/08/2012 22:00

the real baby is your petty dp
as adult and father he should support you
not whine and criticise

He was ok in the end. Dh didn't want me to pick him up, but I told him that every instinct was screaming at me to pick him up and tell him it was ok. He stopped crying as soon as I picked him up. I just cuddled him and calmed him down for a little while. It was nice, my little ds loves cuddles, and he is very cuddly! I am lucky like that. I just love holding him and breathing him in, because he's gorgeous. I tried to lie him down in his cot again after a while, he cried at first but wound down and went to sleep in a few minutes. Looking back now, I think that it might have been because he's almost 1, I was trying to give him milk in a tippee cup instead of a bottle. He ended up dribbling a lot of it down himself and maybe it wasn't as satisfying. Plus, they don't really like changes do they? He's used to his bottle and maybe this change unsettled him? Any way, all was peaceful during the night. Thanks for your support when I needed it mumsnet! :) x

Gemtubbs, how are you and baby today? My 11 month old has been crying all day so am feeling your pain. Hope u r both ok.

BlablaSos · 15/08/2012 15:20

Sorry, just seen your reply!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 15/08/2012 15:35

Gem we gave DD her milk in the bath so that if she dribbled, it would just go into the water. Have you tried the bottles with the juice spouts too?

FannyFifer · 15/08/2012 15:56

Ah god, he's only one, let him have his night time bottle as long as he needs it, all this get them off the bottle at 1 year old shite.
If he likes his bottle and it settles him then that's what you do.

When my babies crying goes through my head, his pitch just makes my head split...I use the ear plugs. It just takses the edge off and I can deal with him again. Works every time
