My 21 month old girl since Friday has stopped drinking water/juice does not drink milk, the hospital have told us to syringe in as much as we can but it is so distressing for her and us,has anyone else ever had this problem?she does not seem to have anything wrong inside her mouth....

Is she eating fruit/veg?

Anything hurting inside her mouth? Sore teeth/mouth ulcer or something?

does she possibly have a uti?
dd1 stopped drinking when she had one at about 20mo, as she made the association between drinking, weeing, and the pain.

we offered lots of new (mostly dentist-horrifying) drinks - milkshake, all sorts of squashes, and got her to choose some new cups and straws to encourage her.

in the meantime try to feed her lots of water-rich foods like ice lollies, soups, melon, grapes, cucumber etc

She eating fruit, veg and ice cream, but only having one wet nappy a day at moment, can't see any teeth and gums seem ok. just wondering how long they can go on for with not much fluid......

Could she have a sore throat?

If she's eating well and seems otherwise healthy I wouldn't worry too much. She's probably getting all the fluids she needs through her food.

Maybe a cool new cup would help?

Does she normally drink from an open cup or get excited to sip from your glass? If my DD isn't drinking enough, those two things will often guarantee a good few gulps.

Or, sounds gross but if really desperate.. Bath water? Maybe trick her with her usual bath pourer and try to swap it out for clean water as she's playing? My DD is obsessed with drinking bath water and it's a constant bathtime battle trying to stop her!

Ice lollies, ice cubes and as a PP said, really exciting drinks such as milkshakes, squashes, cartons etc..
