Tummy tine

My daughter is almost 5mo and has always hated tummy time. As she has great head control and spent a lot of time in sling or standing on laps etc... I never worried about 'practising. Every now and then I would pop her down to see if she'd changed her mind but lift her when she moaned.. (usually after 30secs)

However now she can roll from her back to her front and does so as soon as I put het on the floor. She then smiles up at me all proud for a second, remembers she hates being on her tummy and screams. Repeat, repeat, repeat!! What fun!

Any tips to help her out? Either to help her figure out how to get back onto her back or to use her arms to support her holding head up? Atm she lifts head, arms and feet in air and kind of weebles which is obv a very tiring way of looking around when on your tumm lol!

My 5 and a half month old also hated tummy time until he could roll from his tummy onto his back. I just kept trying him out on his tummy once or twice a day, distracting him with a squeaker or something to try stretch the time out (say from 30s to 1minute, so not much!). Being upset because just because he's on his tummy isn't an issue anymore now he's a bit more mobile.

Hope that gives you some hope!

Thanks AverageHeight

Yesterday was great fun as she loved trying out her new trick but screamed everytime she ended up on her tum! I felt like saying 'duh! You got yourself into this position!"

Anyway I think you're right to just keep going and distracting her cause this morning she actually used her arms to support herself for almost a min before forgetting, lifting them up like she was trying to fly and screaming. So progress.

Have also laid on my back with her on my chest and held her arms in place so she gets used to leaning on them.

Thanks for the hope....
