Argh!! My dd4mths is having 4 night feeds

Hi

The last few nights my dd4mth has been wanting 4 night feeds but only a few in the day. As you can imagine I'm shattered. She goes to bed at 7.30-8 after a bath and wakes every 2 hrs for feed.
Any idea on how to make her sleep better, feed more in day etc?

Thank you

Yes, we had this a couple of months ago and I looked up the 4 month sleep regression thingy on the Internet, but can't remember finding anything which 'solved' the problem. Just knowing it was common occurrence helped and we toughed it out till his sleep improved again a few weeks later. Not much help but good luck.

Has your baby ever slept sustainably through the night? If so, and this is a new thing, it probably is the four month sleep regression others have posted about. Don't worry, it will be over in a week or so.
If your baby has never slept through the night and multiple wake ups are common, then perhaps you should think about more structured routines during the day to ensure baby is getting enough to eat during daylight hours and to ensure that daytime sleep isnt robbing night time sleep.Ssometimes too little sleep in the day can make a wakeful baby, too. Are you following any eating/sleeping routines? The Baby Whisperer is a good place to start, except I find that 3.5hours between feeds is more realistic at four months than 4 hours. For example, my 4 month old has feeds at 7am, 10.30am, 2pm, 5pm, 7pm and a 10.30 dream feed. I sometimes have to rouse her gently from daytime naps to feed her.

Those feed times are for a Bf baby, btw.

No she has never slept all the way through the night without a feed.
I bottle feed and do so as and when she wants. If she has been awake for 2hrs+ and is a bit restless then I put her down for sleep. Probably not feeding her enough in day but her weight is healthy which is main thing. Is it ok to wake for a feed then?

It's okay to rouse from a nap, I think. What I mean by rousing is just gently causing them to wake, by say opening the curtains, taking off their blankets, rustling about in the room etc. Particularly if they've slept for more than 1.5 hours. I wouldn't wake a baby who is in a deep sleep, but if she's stirring or lightly sleeping then, yeah, I rouse her.
