Milk & naps

Hi all, I have a 16MO DS and I'm wondering if I'm doing the right thing with his milk and naps, but I don't have many mummy mates and I've never had a health visitor (long story) so thought I'd ask you experienced and wise lot!

I'm slowly weaning him of his bottles, which he seems fine with, but should I be getting rid of them faster? He still has a mid morning, mid afternoon and bed time bottle. Or should I not worry to much and carry on slowly weaning off?

Naps - He's a dreamy napper, drops like a charm at 9:30 for an hour and a half to 2 hours in the morning, then same again at 2pm. However, he's waking up at 5:30 / 6am every day. Not. fun. I'm not a morning person and neither is DH. Is this a sign we should drop a nap even though he seems to like them and if so which is best to go to encourage a long night time sleep?

Oh and actually while I'm hear he is a lazy eater. By this I mean if he has to put too much effort into chewing something he spits it out after a while. PErfectly capable. Just can't be bothered. Many of you experienced this? Should I give a flying-you-know-what?

i have 2 dc and both of them have done things differently,

ds was having naps up until about 2 years, 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon, he had 2 bottles,1 after breakfast (before his nap) and 1 at night time before bed, he dropped both naps and bottles in his own time probably completely by about 2 and a half,

dd is now 2.5yr old she hasnt had a regular nap routine since she was about 16 mnths due to her just not wanting them, i was a lot more relaxed about her doing it in her own time as i had the experience from ds, she still now has a bottle of milk for bed time and again cut herself down on bottles when she was ready

my ds is also a lazy eater at 6yrs! if it looks like it needs chewing he 'doesnt like it' i tell him the same as what i was told, if he wants some afters he has to eat his mains, even at a young age i started this rule and still stick to it now, however i never stopped snacks at snack time as this is imo essential energy at a young age

you know your baby better than anyone just keep an open mind that all babies do things at different times and you will be fine,

if you are going to drop a nap though i personally would recommend the after noon 1 as if they spend all afternoon tired and grumpy they are building up for a good sleep ime

hth Smile
