Forward facing pushchair

DS is 10.5 months. His pushchair is one that can face either way, and I always have him facing me because I like to see him and chat to him. DH thinks he should face out so he can see things better, and it is true, he does seem to like that. When he is facing me he spends a lot of time trying to peer behind himself to see things that have gone past. Ds appears not to be bothered, and is comfortable either way round, but when he is facing forward I can't talk to him!

So my question is, at his age is forward or parent facing better?

At that age, I used to alternate my forward and rear facing pushchair. DD loved to look out, but I selfishly wanted her looking at me sometimes too, so we could chat and sing songs.
I more often put her facing me when I knew she was tired and would drop off as I loved looking at her asleep (PFB), and let her forward face when she was alert and wanted to lean out and touch trees, hedges, stray dogs etc.

Mine forward faced from birth and they can talk the hind legs off donkeys. Strangers were forever talking to them, I figured they had the rest of the day to talk to me and it gave me a break.

My DD is 10 months and I face her out towards the world mainly because when she sees me she whinges for me to lift her out, also she falls asleep quicker and seems content to smile at everyone!

Dd is almost 9 months and parent facing, I place leave it like this for as possible.

I turned DS out to face forward when he started turning himself around in his seat so that he could look where he was going. He was probably a similar age to your DS. I was quite sad about it at first as I loved watching him but I got over it Smile. I'm not sure there is a "better" way, I would do what you prefer until your DS starts to express a preference.

DS' pushchair could face either way, but he wasn't very keen on facing me (although I kept him facing me until he was about 5 months). He has always been much more interested in looking around. Now, at 18 months, he is smiling at everyone walking past and trying to "chat" with everyone who gives him a bit of attention.

He has always been very nosey Grin and one of those babies who rarely nap in their pushchairs...

Thanks all, perhaps I will alternate each time we go out so he gets the best of both worlds!

At that age I alternated. Outward facing when DS was in an active mood. Inward facing if he was sleepy or cranky.
