Bedwetting in 5 yo

Hi Dont know if anyone has any advice. My DD who has just turned 5 still wets the bed twice a night. She was brilliant to train through the day and was day trained before her second birthday but just cannot get her to go through the night. We dont make a big thing of it but it does bother me having to strip beds and wash her down in the mornings. Does anyone have any advice.

Thanks

And for you Kareann, sorry didn't see you were looking for reusables too!

Karenann · 03/04/2006 16:56

Thanks very much for that rosycheek. I have had a look on the website and can only see reusable cloth nappies - is this what you meant or is there something else?

Orinoco · 03/04/2006 21:51

It's \link{http://www.babykind.co.uk/bedwetterpants.htm\here} Karenann. But they seem expensive - I wonder how they compare to \link{http://www.mothercare.com/invt/ls1938&bklist=icat,5,shop,shobathingbabycare,batnappychanging,napfabricnappies\these?}

Thanks very much Orinoco. I must say when I saw the price I was expecting it to be for a pack of 10 or something - not just 1! I suppose if they last for ages it would work out cheaper than buying packs of dri-nites. At least now I know what i'm looking for. My ds doesn't like wearing the dri nites at all.
Does anyone use these, what do they think - do they make the child sweaty at all.

Rosycheek, can you let us know how you get on with the Motherese reusables? I think I had a pair of the Mothercare ones when I was doing day-time training (unfortunately I've given them away) but I seem to remember they weren't completely watertight so might not be ideal for night-time anyway...

rosycheek · 04/04/2006 13:09

Ds1 used Motherease ones last night and were very good! :) Are quite bulky compared to disposables but after the laughter about his big bottom he was quite happy to wear them. He said they were comfortable and he only had a very slight leak - which is good considering he wets so much he leaks out of disposables too. I know the Mothercare ones you are looking at. Tried them before with dd at night. They don't really stop the wetness at all, really only for daytime use I think. Hope this helps !

You might be interested to know that my DS1 has finally, at the age of 6 3/4, become dry at night of his own accord Smile.

Thanks for the update Rosy cheek. I'm going to try ds without pullups again when the weather gets better. If he's still not ready I'll have to invest in those reusables - Dry-nites cost a fortune

Karenann · 04/04/2006 18:55

Thanks for update rosycheek.

Dinosaure - really appreciate that. Its good too know that there is light at the end of the tunnel!! Sometimes it seems like everyone I know has children who were dry at night by the age of 3. It really helps to not feel like the only one with this situation.

I have found all comments on this thread really helpful.

Hi! I'm new. Grin
I have similar problem - DS is 5 and wets the bed twice a night, with dry nites on!! Bizarrely I posted exact same message on bbc parenting website about a week ago!!
Tips sound great - will experiment! Especially with reusable nappies!! Smile
Thankyou
