Baby swimming

I have recently started taking my nearly 5 month old ds swimming and I've realised it has made a dramatic improvement to his sleeping. He has gone from waking every 2 hours to a block of 5 hours sleep last night after swimming yesterday. Would it be too much to take him swimming 3 times a week? Also should i be putting him in the showers afterwards to wash the chlorine off? I havent done so far as I've just been wrapping him in a towel the minute he comes out of the water. Any help gratefully recieved for this clueless first time mum!

I never bothered showering my 2 at that age. It's up to you really!

I used to stand in the shower with mine but then they were prone to exzema. Isn't it brilliant how it knocks them to sleep?

Not too much to take three times a week.
I would shower together when you come out just to rinse the chlorine off. My skin gets really dry after swimming

It's fantastic! I'm seriously considering going daily, anything to improve his sleep pattern! He's such a little livewire, even though he's started commando crawling and bouncing like a maniac in his door bouncer he never runs out of energy!

Later on - those big bouncy balls with ears really tire them out too.

Does your swimming pool have those red plastic changing tables. I used to put my dd in one of those And place under the shower, and shower her that way, or just hold her so she could get the chlorine rinsed off ....

No we just have 2 shower heads sticking out of the wall by the baby pool so I could just whizz him out of the pool and rinse him off before I wrap him up in his union jack poncho towel! Thanks very much everyone, that was my first post and now I know where to come for some advice!

I take 2 towels for DD.

I to go round her straight as we come out the pool, and the second for after the quick shower

just be a bit careful with the shower - A) can be a bit hard on their head B) temperature fluctuates really quickly with ours. We just give him a bath later on (six months old).

We go at least twice a week - the lesson and then a practice session. Love it : ) Glad it's helping the sleep - same here. If you're dipping yr baby - putting him under water, it'd be worth getting the teacher's advice on how much to do that a week.
