I just gave my girls decent disposable razors (Venus rather than bic!) and told them to make sure they used soap and warm water.

However they do prefer their Dad's gillette much to his despair Grin Hair removal cream is fine, but it doesn't always work, can sting sensitive skin and it stinks...hence we went down the razor route. I would definitely show her tho if she needs help at all.. I think most 12 yr olds these days so remove any underarm hair cos they get teased at PE otherwise :/

exactly- dont want teasing/ bullying etc.

so razor, will get decent ones tomorrow.

thanks!

At least let her make her own mind up! She might be ok with having underarm hair - it's not a crime. If she chooses to get rid of it fair enough, but you suggesting it to her is only going to make her feel that she 'ought' to get rid of it.

stinkymice · 28/07/2012 22:36

I think I would just 'leave' a razor out in bathroom where she can see it - if possible. As I remember I just helped my self to Mum's which was always left next to bath next to soap in soap dish.

cheesesarnie · 29/07/2012 17:44

selks- she wants to. i pointed it out and asked what she wanted to do. i wouldnt assume that she would want to shave it. As you say, its not a crime, its personal choice and she has stated that she would not like hairy armpits.

Could always suggest she leave it one in winter as she won't be wearing sleeveless tops. It's good for the skin to have a winter break.
Ps conditioner is much kinder for shaving than soap.

cheesesarnie · 29/07/2012 21:09

I use conditioner but never knew why Grin just always have! glad you said that!
Will suggest that.

Using conditioner for shaving is a tip I learned from Mumsnet, and it is so much nicer than using gel or soap. So thanks gals!
