My ds has usually been waking every two to three hours but last night went to sleep at midnight, woke at five no hungry ang had small feed at seven. He has jaundice bu been given all clear. He has colic on and off too.
He seems alert and had we nappy. He is usually not really a guzzler, bit lazy a the breast. But he has gained weight brilliantly.
It was prettyho lastnight I guess but should I worr?

My mum says us three started sleeping through at 6 weeks, text book apparently.

My little one is 3 weeks today, I'm hoping he does the same :)

OneTwoOrThree · 27/07/2012 07:09

Totally normal and safe. Enjoy it, you're one of the lucky ones Grin

DD slept through from 6 weeks (I wasn't so lucky with DS though).

Ginga66 · 27/07/2012 07:15

Oh he also had fifteen mis formulae last night which is unusual as he is bf. and has tiny sniffle!

My dd did at 7 weeks and then stopped at 4 months, so enjoy it while it lasts :o

Ds did, was told it was to do with his weight by a pedis. nurse, he was quite a big baby 8 lb 2 born and fed like a champion once he got going. Couldn't believe my luck. Then after he hit one he decided to wake up every morning at 4.30 am and we're still at it.

capecath · 27/07/2012 17:11

Wow, not normal I would say... enjoy, and if it stops after a few weeks, don't think you're doing anything wrong - I'd say that's more normal!!

CecilyP · 27/07/2012 18:46

Definitely don't worry! Although it is very good and means you get a rest, I am not sure that sleeping for 5 hours is quite the same as sleeping through. DS did that quite frequently but he really did start to sleep through - all night - at 8.5 weeks. Unfortunately, as others have experienced, it did not last; he had a cold at 14 weeks and that put an end to that for about 2 years. DS had quite a low birthweight, so not sure that weight has much to do with it.

Fuzzymum1 · 27/07/2012 22:20

My eldest didn't sleep through until he was 2 years old but my two younger two slept through from 6 and 8 weeks - 10 hours plus some nights!

Ginga66 · 30/07/2012 05:03

Hey,

Sorry about delay as iPad issues. He has stopped sleeping through now! Oh well. Reassuring to know if it happens he's ok.

Can happen - DD slept through from 5 weeks and DS from 3 weeks - was very surprised when he beat his sister!

Ours started to sleep through at 6 weeks and did so barring illness until now at 23 MO. Doesnt at the moment though - has just started waking and crying a couple of times in the night recently.

DontEatTheVolesKids · 30/07/2012 13:51

Don't.bloody.complain.

Dd slept thru from 6 weeks (apparently so did I, but then I had baby rice in the bottle, heyho).
DD started waking up again when she got chickenpox at 14 weeks, sigh.

mummytowillow · 31/07/2012 21:24

By 6 weeks my DD1 slept 7pm to 5am ish and by 9 weeks she slept through 7 - 7 ish, no wakes, no feeds. She was the earliest of my 3 to sleep through that length of time but the other two were only a few weeks behind and were certainly regularly sleeping 9 hour stretches by 7 weeks (from 7pm though so I used to get 4am wakes.....). All were exclusively bf and had great weight gain. Not sure how usual it is for babies to sleep long stretches early - I think I was pretty lucky, but it's certainly not a problem. Hope he does it again soon.

Munchkinmommy · 31/07/2012 22:13

Yes it's normal :-) my little girl slept through and I worried at 5 weeks. She was putting on weight as she should so my HV told me to be glad, some babies are just able to go longer at night sooner. Yeah!
