my dd has a very quiet speaking voice unless she gets excited and then is very loud!!!! It's causing problems with other people trying tounderstand her and appreciate how much she can "talk". I've tried asking her to speak louder as i can't hear her but she just says it with more emphasis and stress but not actually any more volume. I'm worried if it carries on she's going to find it difficult at preschool etc. Anyone have any tips or come across this. I did post somethign similar before but would welcome any more suggestions as its ebcoming more and more of a problem. Thanks

At my ds's preschool we had similar problem and although it sounds cruel, the staff - in conjunction and agreement with her prents - decided that requests etc would be gently 'ignored' until they could hear what she was saying. It took two weeks before there was a definite improvment.
I'm assuming (as she can get very loud) that there isn't a physical problem? But, what about her hearing? Is it worth having this checked in case she can't 'hear' how quiet/loud she is?

thanks. I think her hearing is fine as she can hear us perfectly well and anything going on in two rooms away! I don't feel the problem lies there and at her hearing check when she was little she was more than fine. I do ask her to say it again as i can't hear her and have started to ignore certain things until she says them louder may have to persevere on this task even tho she may get frustrated!
