Anyone else have 3yo who acts like teenager when time to get up on the morning?

or is my ds unusual in this? It's not always easy to get him to go to sleep but when I go to get him up he tells me he's still tired and wants to stay in bed. Then lounges around in bed for another half hour !
Not complaining- just wondering if it's unusual!
Goodness knows how hard it will b to get him up when he is an actual teenager!

I have one of those!!! He detests nursery and on 'nursery' mornings, it's just impossible to get him out of bed!

He is loving the holidays because there is no pressure (I have NO clue how we are going to manage DD's 8am school starts in September!!)

This morning, my DH pulled up DS's blinds, and DS got out of bed, put them backdown and got back into bed. He is still there now Grin

(Note: We have safety pulls on the blinds Smile)

Not just us then !

Funnily enough, getting him to go to sleep is pretty tough work too!!

Yea, we don't get much of an evening bit at least we get a lie in!

My dd1 was like this. She slept 12-14 hours whatever and was dopey in the morning. Rather strangely now she's approaching teenage years she started waking earlier-she was awake and reading this morning at 6:30. As a toddler she was rarely up before 9:00 unless I woke her.

mumto have you tried this book? It might help with the evenings and make him less grumpy in the morning.

DD (now 4) does a great impression of a teenager on weekday mornings. Like others, she is a master of procrastination at bedtime. I have to laugh in the morning with the way she will furiously pull her duvet over herself if I take it off her.

The weekend lie-ins are great though.

Thanks, we've got the no cry book for babies. Might try the toddler one.

DD 4 is like this, i had to wake her the other morning and she actually pulled the blanket over her head, turned around and made some sort of grumbling noise at me.

Same here, DD is 4.5, it's a nightmare to get her to get up and get dressed for nursery. Even if she deigns to get out of bed, she manages to drag out the getting dressed bit till I'm ready to pull my own hair out. Dreading what the start of school is going to be like.

No but I have a teenager who acts like a 3 year old when it's time to get up! :o

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 28/07/2012 22:56

I bloody wish! Mine is up at 6.30-7am and climbs into bed next to me for a cuddle.

It is very cute, and I will miss it when it stops happening, but I would love a bit of a lie in some days!

backpackingfamily · 09/08/2012 07:12

yes I have a 2.5 yr old DD who is a total teenager. She is still in a crib and has never tried to climb out (hence why I've still not bothered with a toddler bed) but she did try to climb back in the other morning!

She negotiates with us for "5 more minutes" most mornings!

but she has always been an amazing sleeper - sleeping through the night from 10 weeks!
