How do i "Reasonably" deal with DD's fascination with DS's willy?

She keeps trying to play with it when they are in the bath.

She is 2yrs 10 mths, DS is 10mths.

I've told her to leave him alone but i caught her in the mirror trying to do god knows what with it when she thought i couldnt see.

I dont want to make a HUGE fuss song and dance a bout it and cause hang ups but i dont think it appropriate she do it either.

HELP PLEASE!

"Leave his willy alone, it's not yours"

VVV, we have a dd near enough this age who is obsessed with her big brother's willy.
We have found she is old enough and shrewd enough to understand that if she makes a grab for it in the bath she loses the bath with ds, which she loves. We are also starting the wee-wees and bottoms are private and we don't touch other people's routine.
The most difficult thing is not laughing - she strikes like a cobra! Andrea Dworkin would be proud. And it doesn't help that ds thinks it's pretty hilarious either, not a problem for you with ds as yet...

Thank you. Will try not to worry too much. Its just i happen to think my parents were a little too prudish with us when we were young and i didnt want to go over the top.

We have this with dh - very repressive, prissy upbringing, whereas my dad especially had a very earthy sense of humour. I regularly annoy dh by sniggering with the children on flatulence-related issues :)

suzywong · 06/03/2006 15:02

for gawd's sake don't tell ds to cover it up or his sibling will think it's a worm and snap it off

that's what MIL said to ds1

why not tell her that it's for weeing with and she doesn't want to get weed on....but then watch out for tell tale signs of golden shower obsession later in life

My parents are the worst but, already they are saying to DD who is 2.10 yrs "its rude not to wear knickers/pull your trousers down/show your boobies". I disagree actually. And i know its taken me years to be comfortable with myself - i want her to be comfortable with herself early on.

Make it more about who possesses the body part than what the part is. She wouldn't be allowed to poke him in the eye so she isn't allowed to pull his willy, willies are delicate and she might hurt him.

Is this the sort of approach you would like to take with her? I think it would work on my ds, who is nearly 3, but he hasn't got a brother yet so I don't know!

My two were playing naked after a bath once - ds2 was about a year old, ds1 was 5. Ds2 was still at the putting everything in his mouth stage...I suddenly realised where ds2 was heading with his mouth in that little 'O' shape. You've never seen a woman move so fast Grin
