Are your dc owls or larks?

When ds was little, he would be asleep by 7 and up at 6.00am.

Dd age 6 NEVER goes to sleep before 9, but will sleep in in the mornings. As a baby she once slept until 10.30am!

I'm a lark, I often go to sleep about 1/2 an hour after my dd Sad. We have tried everything to make her go to sleep earlier, I really believe small children should be asleep by 7.30, butI have given up on her. If by chance she does fall asleep about 7.30 on a school day, she is always awake until 10.00 at the earliest the next night.

Does anyone else have one of these? She cut out her naps at 19 months old

DD is a lark - no matter what time she goes to bed.

I am an owl - Not a good combination

orangeandlemons · 23/07/2012 22:15

No, it's not good the other way round either.

Our DC are owls, just like us, thank god. I don't know how I would have coped with a Lark.

MsGee · 23/07/2012 22:17

Both Sad she needs v little sleep

user12785 · 23/07/2012 22:18

One of each. And they share a bedroom. I spend a lot of time shushing...

DefiniteMaybe · 23/07/2012 22:19

same here msgee they'd both happily stay up til midnight then get up at 6't

colditz · 23/07/2012 22:20

Owls. Luckily, so am I

bigTillyMint · 23/07/2012 22:20

When they were small, they were both larks, though not before 6am on-pain-of-death!

Now they are teen/pre-teen, they are both owls.

MsGee · 23/07/2012 22:24

Definite glad it's not just me Grin DD is 4, if she goes to bed at 9 she might sleep till 6 or 7, earlier and she is up at 4 or 5.

Took her to the beach the other day to tire her out. Full day of racing up and down the beach. Awake till 10pm Confused

It's the lack of adult time with dc like these that gets me down.

Dd finally went to sleep about 9.45pm last night. Up raring to go at 8.00am.

One of each (at the moment).

ZuleikaD · 26/07/2012 14:05

Two larks. I am also a lark but I do find 4.30am starts tough.

FariesDoExist · 26/07/2012 15:08

DD1 is a lark, DD2 is an owl.

I feel as though I am hardly ever without a child. Never get to chat to DP anymore.

FireOverBabylon · 26/07/2012 15:14

Lark, generally a 5.10 - 5.30 start Sad. We're not particularly owlish but all parents have limits - 5.10 isn't yet morning.

Saying that, he's currently having a week of 7am wake-ups. God knows why but it's very welcome Grin Grin

anklebitersmum · 26/07/2012 15:17

Gannets. Gannets who rise like Larks Wink

exexpat · 26/07/2012 15:24

Owls, luckily - I think they inherited it from me.

Fuzzymum1 · 27/07/2012 23:06

Mine have all been larks - whatever time he goes to bed my littlest is always awake by 7 - the only time he wasn't was after a very late night as he refused to sleep in the car even though we left on a 250 mile drive at bedtime - he went to bed 5 hours later and slept in til 9 instead of 7.

GoodHeavensNo · 27/07/2012 23:10

DD is an owl. She's still awake now despite being in bed since 8pm Angry I just had to go in for the 500000000000th time to tell her to STOP SINGING AND GO TO SLEEP! And she's only 5.

3duracellbunnies · 27/07/2012 23:11

Maybe you should ask dd1 (7) who is sitting watching olympic opening ceremony. She is an owl, dd2 is a lark and ds (2) keeps them both company!

ZhenThereWereTwo · 27/07/2012 23:16

DD1 in both - rises early, goes to sleep later than I would like - has long naps in the day

DD2 is a lark
