potty training - confused about naptime

We're on day 2 of PT - 4 big wees in the potty so far and LOTS of dribbles on the floor/in knickers; plus I think she's keeping her poo in as it didn't appear at normal poo o'clock earlier... Am sure it'll appear somewhere sooner or later!

But apart from generally regretting even starting this crazy potty lark, and thinking nappies are in fact a great idea for my daughter's entire life, I am also confused about whether she should or should be wearing a nappy at lunchtime nap-time? Her nursery has said yes but I just read the MN guide which says no.

What's the general consensus?

I still put DD in nappies for her after-lunch nap because she'll be dropping the nap in a few months and will then drop the nappy as well.

My ds wears a nappy for naps.

You don't say how old your dd is, but it would never have occurred to me even to put DS in a nappy for his midday nap. For the night, yes, for short day-time sleep, no.

NoToastWithoutKnickers · 20/07/2012 20:00

I didn't use nappies at all and DD was fine. I just made sure she had a wee before her nap and then another when she woke up. Never had an accident.

Try it and see. Have you got any bed pads just in case?

DD is only 3.2 and can still sleep for up to 3 hours at nap time so I'd rather she weed in a nappy.

DD2 is 2.5 and doesn't need a nappy during nap time no matter how long the nap is.

My DS1 is 3.3 and potty trained since December and still wears a nappy at naptimes. Most of the time after his nap his pull-up nappy is still wet and on the odd time we haven't managed to get a nappy in him at nap time he invariably pees in his sleep. But this does depend on how long he sleeps for. His nursery have tried him without and sometimes he does pee in his sleep and sometimes not. You could always try her without and see how it goes but use a mattress protector in case of accidents and if she is always wet then put a nappy on her. My DS1 is certainly not confused by nappies at these times and always uses the toilet during the day.

Agree with Love - it's not confusing for them because they know that when they're awake they wee in the loo, when they're sleeping they wee in nappies.
