Just started night time wee 'training'

Our DD is 3 and a bit and we've been trying out not using nappies at night for about 3 weeks. If DD isn't too tired then she'll wee 2 - 3 times before bed 7.30 - 8pm, and stays dry though out the night. However she goes in the morning and this wakes her up and she's really upset. Should I try and get to her before she wakes, i.e. set an alarm and wake her up to go? If she is really tired she has a wee between 10pm and 12midnight. Apart from the slight annoyance with trying to get the bed clothes dry coz of the blinking weather, I think she's doing really well, but would welcome any tips on how to water proof a quilt! A friend put me onto dry nite bed mats which are great but DD does wiggle a lot and ends up wrapped in her quilt. We are going camping this weekend for 2 nights and i'm thinking about sneaking a nappy on her so save all the wet bedding so I think we'll be making a new start from Mon. Again any tips welcome.

is she having any dry nights? If not, then she is maybe not ready to go through the night without wetting and you would save lots of hassle by putting her back in nappies. I never took the nappies away until they were regularly having dry nappies in the morning.

Thanks Seona, i don't think she's ready and it's causing her a lot of unhappiness when she's wet. Have found myself doing it coz other mum are, but its not always right for your child is it?! She can be dry through the night but wets first thing every day.

What kind of age do people generally do it?

I thought the idea was you waited until nappies were dry in the morning anyway?

I didn't take DS out of nappies at night until long past his fourth birthday, when he'd been dry for about six months! He eventually said in a rather patronising tone "I don't need a nappy at night, you know, mummy" as though he was thinking "poor old dear, obviously hasn't realised that I'm a big boy now". But we've only ever once had a wet bed when he fell asleep in the car and we put him into bed asleep without taking him to the loo first.

Ds's 1&2 were dry at night at 3. Ds2 probably a bit before that. Ds3 is still not consistently dry at just turned 6. He wears pj pants so we don't have wet beds and neither he or I are worried. He now has more dry nights than not so it will come.

I would go back to nappies or pull-ups until she is dry.

Thank you all, my hubby will be pleased too, he thought it was too soon!

Eclectic, that one I don't know but from the above it seems to be when nappies are dry anyway.
