DS is having a growth spurt, he's not eating much during the day - I am giving him meat and veg but needs to be v tender meat mixed with pureed veg - and smaller amounts than he was eating before. His milk intake is up a bit during the day - few oz more - but he's having a whole extra bottle at night! we had a few nights where he kept waking up all thru the night so i gave him 4/5 oz and it's somehow gone up to 8 oz. I was offering water but he did actually seem hungry for milk so I switched to milk.
Not sure what to do now - last couple of nights we have given 8oz around 11pm or midnight, it's meant he'll go to 5 or 6am. It seems ridiculous to be giving him this much at night tho - should I just start watering it down to wean him off or keep offering because it's a grown spurt and he'll take as much as he needs?
This is all doing my head in as 3.10yo DD is being fussy about food right now and I really want DS to keep expanding the range of foods he eats... except there isn't much he wants to eat! Also, if he rejects the first bit of puree/finger food, should I offer alternatives or keep trying? I can't figure out whether it is spoiling him or whether it's best to ensure he eats enough during the day. I tend to offer ella purees if he doesn't want the homemade stuff. Super sweet i know. But meal times are a total PITA so am just trying to get thru the days atm.
Have googled and people say this can go on for 2 months! Am a bit scared about him having too much milk ( he has 4/5 oz in the morning, 4/5 oz in the afternoon and 8oz and bedtime, plus this new 8 oz midnight feed and boob at around 5am to get him thru to 7am brekkie), and how we will get him sleeping thru again ( he was doing 7 till 5am, but I can't remember when he last did that).
He is a pain to settle in the middle of the night and we end up bringing him in with us - but I guess if he is having a growth spurt and trying to crawl, teething etc, now is not the time for full on sleep training/PUPD.
DH and I are exhausted, hence my confused ramble.
Please help!
