Headstands. Can't help but worry she'll break her neck.

DD is 17 months and a real live wire. Her latest thing is standing on her head (feet on ground, bum in air and looking through her legs), which I'm sure all babies do at some point, but I can't help but cringe at the thought of her breaking her neck! It just goes through me when she does it. She likes to rock in that position too and has almost gone over a couple of times. Am I being totally paranoid or should I try to discourage it somehow? (Yeah, like I'd be able to...)

DS 21 months does this often too. They are very robust is the conclusion I have come to :)

oh gosh, mine does this too, he is 2.8 and has done this since about 16m very enthusiastically, no matter what I do to discourage it I will walk in a room every day and find him doing it - off the edge of the sofa the other day which really gave me nightmares! He can do it and end up in a complete rollover now as well. It makes me admire his flexiblity and fearlessness but frightens me at the same time... :)

It's yoga! Downward facing dog. ::nods::

Truly, she'll be fine.

my ds1 spent most of his first 4 yrs upside down, honestly they are designed to be bendy at this age.

Phew! Thanks all. Super-paranoid first time mum. I'll relax and let her enjoy the yoga then...
