15 months old grinding his teeth in sleep

I thought that grinding your teeth in your sleep was associated with stress, so the fact that my DS who is barely 15 months old does it every single night is a bit worrying. Is this normal? Is this stress related? Do other mums have similar teeth grinding babies?

We did when DD was about 13 months - very annoying, but she quickly grew out of it. I think they're just exploring their new teeth. It must feel very weird for them. She used to make the most god-awful clicking sound with hers.

Ds does it sometimes when teething.

DD used to do this all the time during the day (not at night though) and it drove me nuts - such an awful sound and the worry that she was grinding her new little teeth down to stumps. But your post has made me realise that she has completely stopped (20mths now). So hopefully just a phase/adjusting to having them thing.

Thank you all for your feedback. DS does have loads of teeth (8 already fully out and 6 on the go including two mollars) so the plenty of tooth action could be the reason.

My DS is 15 month old too and already has 15 teeth with 3 coming, he always has LOADS of teeth coming through at the same time and he grinds his teeth every time. Its awful but it stops as soon as the teeth have cut. I found teething powder and gel help a lot because it takes the dis comfort away. I was also under the impression it was stress related but when I spoke to the health visitor she confirmed it was just teeth, he said babies who has multiple teeth coming through and the same time tend to grind and advised not to bring too much attention to the fact that it bothers you as this could make it a new way of getting attention. I hope your little ones teeth cut soon Smile
