Should I be doing something??

my son is 2 years and 7 months. He goes to bed at 6:30 after bath and story and songs.
He has a bookcase in his room and he will sit for 2.5 hours every night looking at his books, going to sleep at about 9pm. He's then up at 6:30am.
He sometimes has a 2 hour nap during the day.
He is vile when he is tired but the rest of the time a delight.
He tends to be tired a lot at the moment as he is not napping, and still not going to sleep earlier than 9pm.
Should I be trying something (G-d knows what) to get him to be going to sleep earlier?? Should I remove his books? My fear is then he'll just wail and shout for Mummy and Daddy until 9pm anyway.
Or should I just accept it and ignore it, and it'll smoothe out over time?

Any advice gratefully received. Thank you.

Crumbs, sounds tbh honest as though you're expecting an awful lot of sleep from him. For comparison's sake, DD3 wakes up at 6:30/7 am, has a nap around 1pm lasting no longer than 1.5 hours (usually 1h15 mn and sometimes none, like today), and very rarely goes to bed before 8:30pm, more usually around 9pm. Today she had no nap and tbh could do with going to bed within the hour (around 7:30) but will still wake up sunny and bright at 6:30/7. Around 11 hours in 24 therefore.

Oh I was only going from what I've read in development books which says about 13 hours at this age. He's my first though so I have no idea if this is realistic or not. It would appear not then. Maybe I shouldnt let him nap so long when he does then.

I would just go with it. Sounds like you get a bit of peace in the evenings. Can you have a "quiet time" after lunch to encourage him to nap? I wouldn't wake him from a nap but that's just me!
