DS1 who is 2.5yrs makes the most awful noise. It is so highpitched it hurts my eardrums and I swear it has damaged my hearing!

He did it today when DH rang at lunch time and it even got DH on the pther end of the phone!

The other thing is he seems to be able to do it forever, it can go on and on!

Anyone elses child treat them to this noise?
Can someone tell me they grow out of it (soon!)

oh yes! eardrum-splitting hell over here, too.
am hoping he will grow out of it - he's also 2.5 - and he does it when he wants my attention and his brothers are hogging it. very effective (obviously)!
have on occasions managed to stop him by getting (deafeningly) close and saying in his ear, 'I want to talk to you but I can't when you scream like that. Please talk quietly and I'll listen.'
let me know if you find a better solution! I'm all ears - well I was until recently, anyway Wink

DD has the highest pitched squealy giggle I've ever heard - it scares her more timid friends, and it scares the local cats! You have my sympathy...Smile

Mumatuks · 02/03/2006 15:51

Glad its not just us then, but sorry you have to suffer it as well!

JB I've tried Time out, I've tried saying "I don't like your screaming, but if you use big boy words I'll talk to you!" I'm hoping he'll just grow out of it!

EB: Yes I swear even dolphins / whales could hear his high pitch! The cat has moved out because of it! Wink

YES, whole swimming pool was reverberating with DS2's shrieks this morning.

Mirage · 02/03/2006 22:45

No,but when dd1's little friend starts squealing,all the local dogs must run around in circles{grin}

My 10-month-old dd2 does ear-splitting squeals that could break glass. Her sister gets really upset by it.

I started a thread a little while ago about this as my 2 year old does it and now my parrot has started imitating so I have it twice - it's horrible! I can't find the original thread but \link{http://www.clipshack.com/Clip.aspx?key=34DC7DCD42BFFB55\this} is Charlie caught on camera doing it!

Mumatuks · 03/03/2006 07:52

BubbleRock.. I enjoyed the clip! Your parrot is lovely. I can't believe he's learnt to scream! Shock

It's a horrible sound hopefully he will grow out of it along with DS2 Smile

I am really hoping it is something that will be grown out of quickly, my 2.5 yr old has got the loudest voice i have ever heard, but she started at 4 months. When we travelled by train recently I actually heard a man in the carriage say 'Oh for F*s sake!' when she started. I was mortified and moved carriages swiftly. Makes going anywhere or doing anything very difficult. Any suggestions/diversionary tactics anyone?
