Differences in centile lines

OK DS was on the 50th centile for weight until 6 months. At his 8 week check he was measured at just over the 25th centile for length but I disregarded this as he'd just outgrown his moses basket and was wearing 6-9 month sleep suits.

So his weight steadily went up and at 11 month check was between 75th and 91st centile but length matched exactly ? fine.

At 18 months he hit the 91st centile for weight and I was handed a leaflet on portion size as he'd gone up two centile lines but the HV looked at him and said he's fine. He's very well built with a bit of a belly but doesn't have rolls of fat around his wrists or anything so I've never been worried about it.

Roll on today and he has a dietician appointment (dairy allergy) and she measured him at 91st centile for weight and between 25th and 50th for height, cue me now feeling like I overfeed him. She just suggested putting him on the semi-skimmed soya milk rather than full fat and didn't seemed concerned. Surely he's look like a butter ball if his weight was that much more than his height?

As much as I tell myself he's fine, I can't help but worry now Sad.

DS is 2.2 and had never had his length measured until his 2 year check a few weeks ago. HV told me they had stopped measuring length but had started again recently. The reason they stopped is that they couldn't do anything about length, reason they have restarted is to see if a child isn't growing at all.

My DS has been on the 75th for weight since a few weeks old but his height when measured for the first time a few weeks ago was only the 25th. HV didn't seem too bothered and he doesn't look fat at all. Just not skinny.

Thanks for the reply. I think it had just been playing on my mind, especially after being given the leaflet on portion sizes but he's very well built and has the same chest measurement as his sister who's 3.6.

I measured him myself, as the dietician did it standing up but in the red books they're meant to be lying down until they are 2, and I made him 2-3cm more lying down and that took him up to the 75th centile, so a small difference can change it a lot ? I guess that's why they don't really measure length any more.
