Keeping bedtime routine on holiday - yes or no?

First hol with the baby (11 weeks) this weekend - Luckily baby has settled herself into nice little routine especially at night - goes down between 7.30 and 8 everynight - just wondering what we do about meals out etc on holiday? for 1 week we're staying in B&B but will be visiting family nearby and going out for meals - would you just pop her down in pram and hope for best? Do you just scrap the whole bath thing or bath before going out?
TIA xx

we were always flexible on holiday as frankly i didnt want to be sitting in an apartment bored at 8pm every night. We just put him down in the cot and bathed him before we went out.
You might find a bit of hassle when you come back but to be honest their routines change a lot as this young age so it probably would have happened anyway. Have fun x

Cot? I meant pushchair!!!

Yeah, I would. Make the most of it while they'll still do that- DS wouldn't once he got to about 9mo and now at 2yrs we are firmly in the world of hotel babysitters or villa holidays (or room service with him asleep in the bathroom)

Just been away with friends with a 5mo and she slept in the sling/push chair in restaurants pretty happily.

I think it depends on the child. My dd1 was a nightmare if she was out of her routine and it just wasn't worth it. Even in her pram she just wouldn't sleep and was so loud. My younger 3 are more easy going but I still keep them to their bedtime, it's important to me to get them to bed and have some me time. We make sure we do plenty during that day so a quiet evening is nice. If you have an easy going lo, then do what works for you and lets you all enjoy your holiday :)

Depends on the baby. We went away for a week when DD was 3mo. We just skipped the whole bath and bedtime routine. She was perfectly happy asleep in the pushchair carrycot, whether it's the pub or a friends living room. Make the most of it at that age. Life is too short to be stuck with rigid routines.

Bath in the morning instead? We did this anyway with DS until I started weaning him!

You might as well give it a go. As sherbetpips said, routines change and develop all the time when they are tiny. Take advantage of the flexibility!

thanks guys! think we'll take advantage of the flexibility as hadn't thought ahead to when bed-time is a lot more set - reminded me to enjoy the freedom now!

We took DS to the Lakes on holiday when he was 9 weeks old. We kept the 'routine' - i.e. bath, clean babygro, BF and 'quiet time' but then put him to sleep in his pram and took him with us when we went out for a meal/ drinks. He slept beautifully and we got some 'us' time pretty much without interruption. I think a routine can aid a night out! Now DS is much older (19mo) his routine goes out the window when we're on holiday because he's too interested in being sociable! Agree with enjoying the freedom now!
