9mo twins weaned from breast - no soother - intense comfort blanket relationship

Finally weaned my DT's in the last month. We started giving them a tiny tag blanket to snuggle in to when they were going into the cot as a little comforter after they 'lost' boob.

Now DT 2, who was completely addicted to breast has developed a really intense relationship with her blanket. She won't be happy unless she has stuffed alot of it into her mouth and sucks it to sleep. I'm afraid that she might choke herself (am i over dramatic?) and also learn a bad sleep association. They have never had soothers and i don't want her to be too dependant on this as a sleep aid. Over lunch settled and woke when i took the blanket out of her mouth!

Should i just let her have her blanket to suck and stuff all over her face when going to bed and sleeping or is it best to avoid these bad habits? Am first time mum so just not sure what to do about this! So advise appreciated :)

Seriously i wouldn't worry as long as the blanket doesn't have too loose fibres.

I grew up with a little lamb toy that i used to pick off bits and shove up my nose to go to sleep. Mum used to come in the the morning to a pool of fluffy tufty bits all over my bed and floor. She had to recover that lamb about 20 times with synthetic sheepskin. I don't remember it and i grew out of it. I dont have any respiratory disorders or any issues sleeping. :)

I really wouldn't worry either. All mine have comforters of one description or another. My friends little boy had an elephant who's' trunk he sucked endlessly, but he dropped it as he got older.

Just be glad they's transferred their boob affections so easily Grin

haha thanks ladies! fishandlilacs that's a great story! :)
Put's my mind at rest anyway, don't want her to be unhappy but was just abit worried!

Am def glad she has adopted the blanket instead of me!

At around 8mo dd became really attached to a blankie in the same way yours is. She is 2 on saturday and LOVES blankie more than anything. It makes her feel secure and soothes her to sleep. Just make sure you have at least two in circulation and wash them frequently!!
