I am perhaps being ridiculous, but..

My 7 year old dd refuses to wear dresses and I, in my infinite wisdom, have started to worry that this means that she wishes she was a boy and will end up having a sex change. I know I am being silly but I would like some reassurance that girls who refuse to wear dresses/skirts don't grow up to live their lives as a man!

I must add, if she did decided this was the way for her I would be her biggest cheerleader as I love her completely. Just saying!

I was such a tomboy when I was about 7/8, short hair, refused to wear skirts, dresses, anything pink.

Fast forward 10 years and I was in the throes of a full-on footballers-wives type phase - 4 inch heels every day, full make-up, hair extensions etc Grin

Another 10 years and I'm happy wearing skirts, dressed etc for occasions, but live in jeans and converse more often than not.

I really don't think there's anything there for you to worry about!

DD2 hated dresses and skirts at the age of 7. She is now 22 and often wears dresses or skirts.

I refused to wear any girly clothes as a child. Complete tomboy.... Oh how things have changed, now I live in dresses. Don't worry about it, she'll be fine.

Love this thread, its nice to see someone admit their irrational thoughts!
I went to school with someone who was adament she wanted to be a boy and would even wear shorts swimming, I saw her 10 years later and she was a hell of a lot more girly than me!!!!
I have the opposite problem my dd would live in dresses if i let her and i regularly have to argue that a dress and sparkly sandals is not appropriate for park/tree climbing/bike ride. As i am not and never have been girly (i can just about manage a dress for a night out) i really dont understand where this pink, fluffy creature has come from!
