Can anyone reassure me? My 6 month DD hips "pop". She was breech, having scan next week and worried.

Basically the subject says it all. She was born by ELCS because she was breech and all went well, she had the routine (for breech babies) hip scan at 6 weeks and nothing abnormal was detected, but when I change her nappy I have noticed that her hip "pops" and also the creases in her legs don't line up which we were told to look out for. I went to the GP and he has referred us for another hip scan.
Has anyone else been through this and everything has been fine, or do I need to gear myself up for her to be in splints or have surgery? She sits up on her own and doesn't seem to be in any pain which reassures me a bit, but I'm still worried.
Thanks.

because you are too nice, probably!

Thanks rhetorician, more likely because I'm a mug who accepts what she's told without question [wry Smile]

I'm feeling a bit better about things today, had a huge long chat with DH last night and we are both ok with the idea of it all and that we can get through it together. I know it sounds twee and I never thought for a moment that he wouldn't be there with me through whatever happens, but somehow talking about it seems to have helped.

Just got to wait to know if there's actually anything to "get through" now.

We need our heads banging together I know, we should have spoken about it ages ago, but neither of us are very good about these things. Took me ages to tell him how terrified I was when we found out she was breech and I needed the ELCS.

I'm so happy!! Grin They said the scan shows nothing abnormal at all, the noises we can hear are just ligaments moving about and nothing to worry about, and the creases don't line up cos that's just the way she's made. He also said that if there are no problems now then we don't need to worry about clicky hips at all now, it would have shown itself by now if she had it.

Thank you all so much for your support and words of encouragement.

Good luck and best wishes to those of you still receiving treatment

Hello,

I'm new to the forum and would appreciate some feedback to help calm my current nervous state! My daughter has been placed in a Pavlik harness at 16wks old after she was diagnosed with a Graf type 2c right hip. She has to wear the harness 24/7 and will have another ultrasound and scan on 28th Sept to see if it has made any difference. I'm so scared that the harness won't work, as she was much older going into it than most children. Does anyone have any knowledge of children being treated succesfully in the harness at such a late stage? Thanks in advance.
